the brain is, in fact, capable of going “that scary outcome is very unlikely” when asked BUT will not always do it automatically. and you can’t ask the part of the brain that’s like “HERE’S A SCENARIO YOU FEAR” because its answer will always be “THIS WILL AND MUST HAPPEN BECAUSE IT IS SO SCARY”. u gotta ask the part that actually knows there’s only a fuckin,,, 0.1% chance of there being an axe murderer in your shower, or whatever.
